Reseda, California
As part of ongoing revitalization efforts for Los Angeles neighborhoods, the
Community Redevelopment Agency is providing help to local commercial
corridors through a storefront improvement and signage program. This
program has successfully upgraded neighborhood shopping areas in Van Nuys,
Canoga Park and numerous other communities in Los Angeles. The project
for Reseda extends for two blocks on both sides of Reseda Boulevard north
of Sherman Way, where a once thriving streetscape had suffered as the neighborhood
changed. One set of stores, well served by parking at the back, had
virtually shut off entrances along Reseda Boulevard. This project of over
twenty individual storefronts is moving forward through community meetings,
design sessions with each property and business owner, and review with
a community advisory committtee. New lightring, colors, awnings and innovative
signage will contribute to a re-enegized commercial Main Street for the
Reseda neighborhood.
