A modest one story house in West Los Angeles was transformed for a growing family. Taking advantage of light and distant ocean views, we blended contemporary idioms of modern styling and Mediterranean beachside homes. The original ground floor kitchen is maintained while living and dining are reconfigured to allow for a large living room and open, sky lit stair. Two bedrooms and a bath complete the first floor. The new second story includes a large family room in front, a master suite, two additional bedrooms and a bath. A rooftop deck, accesses by exterior stairs, provides a place for both quiet reflection and twilight dining with views of Catalina Island.
